This is a fool-the-eye project. At first glance, it looks like the sides of this basket are woven, but they are actually made of four wood layers in offsetting patterns to create the illusion of a woven basket. The basket is large enough to store many items, so it could be used virtually anywhere in your home or office.
The top and bottom are cut from Sapele and the layers from basswood. The dimensions are 3 1/2 inches high, 6 1/2 inches wide, and 9 3/4 inches long. The inside depth of the basket is 3 1/4 inches. Th basket is finished with a warm satin polyurethane.
